Hawaiian Airlines

Anyone who’s ever flown to Hawaii on United or virtually any other US carrier knows it’s a flying sardine can – even in First. So when I recently flew on Hawaiian Airlines I was prepared for the worst.  Wow – was I surprised.  Hawaiian’s planes are comfortable even in coach, and their First Class service – is First Class!  Hawaiian’s First class has a generous 42″ seat pitch in First (vs. United’s 36″ to 38″ in FIRST)  , great service, great entertainment (pvp players), and really good food.  (more…)

I LOVE IT!  I’ve been wanting to spend several months next year in Europe, and what’s been stopping me are my 2 dogs.  I don’t trust my luggage with baggage handlers and you want me to trust my loved ones with them?  Getting them across the Big Pond wasn’t the problem, they can sail on the Queen Mary.  The problem was getting them to New York to get on the Queen Mary 2, and I really didn’t like the idea of putting them in a cargo hold on the plane.  Now they can fly from Los Angeles to New York on their own airline!  This is a great idea! After my recent trip to Venice I’m trying to figure out why all the guidebooks lead everyone to believe the area by the (SMN) train station is dangerous and a dump with seedy hotels…  It’s not.  In fact the Amadeus Hotel is a wonderful 4 star hotel less than a 5 minute walk from the train station (SMN). Which in Venice is important – you’ll either arrive by bus or train (I recommend the train, less stairs) and you have to lug your luggage to your hotel. (more…)

I try NOT to fly coach trans-ocean, but I was travelling with a friend and had to, so we looked for the best deal on the shortest flight.  Dublin to Newark is a very tolerable (approximately) 7 1/2 hrs – and the service, entertainment, and the seating on our 757 was actually… nice?!  Not a phrase I usually use to describe any part of a coach flight.  (more…)

“Wotif Mate?” say it with an Aussie accent and you’ll get the name…  (If you need me to translate it in to American, that’s “What if?”) One of my favorite discount hotel sites, originally just for Australian and New Zealand they’re now worldwide and part of the AsiaWebDirect.com group (one of my favorite sites for SE Asia hotels.  I love any site that gives me The Sheraton Roma for E70 per night, and a 4.5 star in Sydney for $60 AUS per night!
